Flea and Tick Control

Flea and Tick Control

Fleas can be distressing for your pet, however they are more than just a nuisance. Fleas can cause skin disease and transmit infectious or parasitic diseases, some of which can be transmitted to humans too.

Many people often associate fleas with a dirty environment or bad living conditions, but fleas can live in any carpet, dirt, at the park or at the beach. Your dog could catch fleas simply from going for a walk! Due to their small size, it is often difficult to see fleas on your pet, so we recommend year-round protection to prevent this from happening.

At Your Family Vet, we sell several different brands and types of flea control. Call or drop in to the clinic to discuss which may be best for you and your pet, or ask us as your next appointment.

The most common ticks infesting dogs in Australia are the paralysis tick, the brown dog tick, and the bush tick. While we don't often see ticks around our area, pets that travel with you can pick them up and bring them back with them. Most flea treatments that we sell also include tick preventatives, but please call or drop in and discuss this with our reception team so we can help you find one to best suit you and your pet.
